ABOUT US

BUILDING BRIDGES
THROUGH DANCE

How We Started

Wheelchair Dancers Organization (WDO) was founded in 2008 with a vision to make dance accessible to all. In 2010, we became a 501(c)(3) non-profit, allowing us to expand our reach and impact. Since then, we have provided dance classes to hundreds of individuals of all ages and mobility levels, creating opportunities for self-expression, connection, and empowerment.

Our Mission

We are committed to creating an inclusive dance community where individuals of all abilities, ages, and experience levels can come together in a supportive, unified environment. We provide accessible movement opportunities that empower, inspire, and uplift the body, mind, and spirit, enriching every participant through the transformative power of dance.

Our Vision

Our Vision is to continuously build bridges through dance, expanding opportunities both locally and globally. We strive to provide a creative and inclusive space where dance classes are accessible to all, fostering connection, expression, and community for every participant.

Our founder

Beverly Weurding was 55 years old when she was diagnosed with Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy. At a time when most people are looking toward retirement, Beverly was navigating life as a new wheelchair user. With encouragement from her physical therapist, she created Wheelchair Dancers Organization to share her lifelong love of dance with others in the Disabled community. To date, Wheelchair Dancers Organization has changed the lives of hundreds of dancers of all ages and mobility levels.
